on finding the perfect pair of gray suede boots for fall

I’ve been envisioning a pair of boots just like these for a long while. As much as I like black, I feel like gray suede boots are just as versatile.

I’ve gotten picky over the years, let’s just call it refined taste. Minimum requirements: a block heel so they were easy to walk in and they had to be at least knee-high. I also didn’t want them to be too formal, so I intentionally looked for a lace-up style boot.

Taking to Amazon in typical fashion…

I just intended to research styles at the time to be perfectly honest. But when I stumbled upon this pair of gorgeous gray suede boots for under $100 I just had to snatch them up! Apparently Carlos Santana (the musician) also has a line of women’s shoes… and it’s pretty good! [UPDATE: It looks like that impulse paid off, because the price has gone back up since then.]

So what do I do?

My perfect pair of gray suede boots arrived just the night before I was scheduled to have my hair done. I was so eager to wear them that I put together a whole outfit just to for my hair appointment! Had to wear them with this black A-line skirt and black crop top… and there’s a slight chill in the air some days now, so I dusted off this vintage cordurouy jacket to go with it.

I’ve been trying to… brace yourself— grow out my bangs.

While I have been trying to grow out my bangs for the last couple months, today during my hair appointment I decided to keep wearing the bangs down instead of pushing them to the side. It looks like a whole new me with long bangs as opposed the to baby bangs I was rocking all of 2015 & early 2016, god I miss ’em already. Anyway, I’m thinking this is the best way to wear them until they grow out a little more.

And the hair?

Besides helping me figure out what to do with my bangs, Susan also freshened up my hair with a tiny trim and luminous platinum blonde color achieved using MilkShakeUSA & Joico. We always get a picture after a hair session, but we got a little carried away and had a little impromptu photoshoot (my favorite kind) as you can probably see.
